I’ve tried a dozen different kinds of water bottles and this one is by far the BEST. We have it in 24 oz size also and love it.
The combination of the straw and chug spout is great because you get the best of both options. I especially love that the part you put your mouth on is covered, which makes it feel much more sanitary.
It keeps water cold for a long time, and the size is perfect. I drink quite a bit of water throughout the day, and this bottle lasts me a long time without needing to refill. It doesn't leak at all as long as it's closed properly.
Another feature I really appreciate is the handle lock—it gives peace of mind when tossing it into a bag, knowing it won’t accidentally open. It's also super easy to use.
The only small downside is that the handle is a bit tight and not the most comfortable to hold, so it’s not ideal for carrying around for long periods. But other than that, it’s a fantastic bottle and I’m really happy with it!
The quality is amazing. I fill it with ice and water, and even after a full day — sometimes more than 24 hours — the water is still cold and refreshing. The size is very manageable and comfortable to carry, and one of the most important features for me: it fits perfectly in my car cup holder. Many bottles overlook this, but this one is perfect for on-the-go use.
While it’s not huge, it has a great everyday size, and during the intense Las Vegas summer, I pair it with a larger bottle to refill it. I love the portability and design.
I must be honest — the original price was $47, and I had to wait for a 50% discount before I could buy it. But I’m so glad I did. There are many bottles out there, but none are this beautiful. And I found the perfect vinyl sticker on Amazon to personalize it with my name in a matching, fun green color — now it looks even more amazing!
No complaints at all. Just pure joy every time I use it. 💕 I highly recommend it.
Thank you so much for this perfect bottle!
My wife and I were among the early owners of Owala bottles when they first came out and way before they became trendy on TikTok and became known as koala nose bottles. They were selling them at our local Sam's in a 2-pack 32 oz black and grey set. It was (and still is) an awesome water bottle and lasted us for years, even after college. Super sturdy and durable, we still have our first bottles. But because of accidental drops, the paint chipped, had scratches, and a few dents on the bottom. It still works in keeping our water cold and hot or cold and we use it to carry ice when camping or having picnic dates at the park. My wife's favorite water bottle color is white: sleek and clean design, very good looking. So I ordered this 24 oz for her as a surprise. She was very pleased. It's a smaller size than the 32 oz and she can hold and grip it better since it's smaller.
This is our go-to water bottle. The only brand we use and recommend to all our friends and families. Even ordered two more for my mom and dad. I'd put ice with water in it the night before and it's still ice cold the next morning until the afternoon, and the ice still hasn't completely melted then. It's very well-insulated and very functional. When my wife was recovering from covid, I made her green tea and poured it into her Owala bottle. We didn't know it was going to retain the heat so well, even after 3 hours and would've burned her if she didn't test it first. It felt like boiling water when she dipped her fingers in. The exterior felt neutral, not warm or hot, so we didn't know.
Overall, this is a heavy-duty water bottle and works incredibly well for insulating both hot and warm water. Even when dropped on wood, cement, tiles, or concrete, it retains its shape albeit a few small dents on the bottom. My wife and I will continue to use our Owala bottles and will buy new ones when the time calls. As long as Owala is still in business, they've earned our trust and we will continue buying from them.
-The best feature is the push button open lid that is quiet. The lid stays open due to built in springs.
-2nd best feature is the spout for chugs or sip (via straw). I always chugged with other water bottles but find I use the sip more often with the Owala maybe because the straw diameter is large enough? Its just perfect.
-3rd best feature is the combination of the first two, because it's so easy to pop the lid (you don't have to unscrew) - you can pop the lid and the chug spout is large enough to refill the water bottle at a fountain or faucet without hardly any effort..
- The sip spout with straw is easy to sip - much easier than Camelbak.
- Love the carry handle (comfortable) and the way that it locks the lid and keeps it from accidently opening when in a gym bag or on a car seat etc.
-It keeps drinks ice cold with just a little ice for over a day.
-The size and shape and mechanics of the water bottle are really well thought out. Note: The 32 ounce is a little large in the base to accommodate most vehicle cup holders - it has to go in the door well. But, most people aren't using the 32 ounce for a car cup holder but for the gym. If looking for the car, then go with the 24 oz version.
- Durability? I would give it a A-. I purchased the separate rubber boot piece to protect the bottle and it fell off a kitchen counter and there is a small dent at the top of the bottle just under where the lid is tightened. I don't blame Owala - it fell off a counter onto a hard wood floor. Bottle has character now.
The only criticism I read about is the color combinations of the bottles. Some don't like the multi-color options but they have plenty of solid colors so I'm not sure what the issue is. They have plenty to choose from. I chose the Foggy color but almost chose black. The all white is fairly popular.
Recommendation: Purchase a few favorite vinyl stickers. Why? You will need them to ID your water bottle. It has easily become the most popular water bottle I see at the gym.
Notes on 2 of the competitors:
FJ Bottle - I thought I would really like the extra rope handle it comes with and the magnetic top. It's just ok. I don't use the rope that often and the functionality of the Owala is so much better.
Takeya - the handle is really comfortable. It doesn't look comfortable but it is to carry. The top is not as water tight as it seems. The rubber band at the top of the lid comes off and stretches over time.
Thoughtful Design & Amazing Sip Options
The feature that really makes this bottle stand out is the FreeSip lid. It has both a built-in straw and a wide-mouth opening, so you can drink two different ways. My daughter loves using the straw when she’s on the go, and when she’s really thirsty or refilling at home, she just tilts it back and chugs like a regular bottle. It’s a small thing, but it makes a big difference in how often she actually uses the bottle. She even mentioned it feels “cooler” to drink from than her old one.
Perfect Size for School and Sports
The 24 oz size is ideal for a kid. It holds enough water to get through most of the school day or a sports practice without being bulky or too heavy. It fits easily into backpack pockets, cup holders, and even the side pouch of her dance bag. She’s taken it to school, dance class, and weekend outings, and it’s always the first thing she grabs when heading out the door.
Keeps Water Cold All Day
This bottle really performs when it comes to insulation. It keeps water cold for hours—literally from morning until late afternoon, even on warm days. My daughter actually gets excited to take a sip and feel how cold the water still is. That’s a big improvement from some of the cheaper plastic bottles we’ve used in the past.
Durable and Kid-Proof
Kids drop things. A lot. This bottle has held up incredibly well. The stainless steel body is sturdy and the powder-coated finish hasn’t chipped, even after being tossed into lockers and dropped a few times. It still looks nearly brand new. The lid closes securely and hasn’t leaked once, even when it’s rolling around in a backpack.
Cute Colors That Kids Love
Owala really nailed it with their color choices. We got the “Shy Marshmallow” (pastel blue and peach), and it’s adorable without being too childish. The color combo is one of my daughter’s favorite things about the bottle—it feels stylish and fun, which means she actually wants to carry it around.
Easy to Clean
The lid design might look complex at first, but it’s surprisingly easy to take apart and clean. We usually rinse it by hand, but the bottle is dishwasher safe on the top rack, which is a huge bonus. There’s no weird plastic smell or funky taste either, which has been an issue with some other bottles we’ve tried.
⸻
Pros:
• Dual-function FreeSip lid (straw + wide-mouth) is super convenient
• Excellent insulation keeps water cold for hours
• Kid-friendly design that’s durable and fits in backpacks/cup holders
• Leak-proof lid means no spills in school bags
• Fun, stylish color combos kids actually like to use
• Dishwasher safe and easy to clean
• Comfortable size and weight for younger users
Cons:
• Lid handle is a bit small for adult hands (not an issue for kids)
• Straw can take a little getting used to at first (minor learning curve)

Final Thoughts
The Owala FreeSip Water Bottle is one of the best purchases I’ve made for my daughter. She drinks more water without reminders, loves showing it off to friends, and it’s held up to daily use like a champ. Whether it’s for school, sports, or weekend outings, this bottle goes everywhere with her. If you’re looking for something functional, fun, and built to last, this is absolutely worth it. I might even grab one for myself next!
